Abrahams Piano Competition

Abrahams Piano Competition

Over 70 boys participated in the preliminary rounds of this year’s Abrahams Piano Competition.  The standard was as high as ever and the music staff had a difficult task in selecting the finalists in each class.  The adjudicator for the finals was Mr Luis Parés, Head of Keyboard Studies at Dulwich College.  His wise and encouraging comments will only have helped the development of our young pianists and his adjudications of Class 3 were more akin to a masterclass, with each boy receiving specific feedback, both praising the performances and giving advice as to how to approach their playing in the future.  Congratulations go to every boy who participated in any stage of the Competition and especially to the finalists and the boys who were placed.  The results were as follows.

Class 1.

1st Max P

2nd Zacchaeus K

3rd Dylan T

Class 2.

1st Fredi O’R-C

2nd Angus H

3rd Sebastian S  &  William H

Class 3.

1st Mati S

2nd Aidan N and Sacha S

3rd Wilf P

The competitive aspect of the Completion was followed two days later by the Elementary Festival which involved many of our younger or less experienced pianists playing a selected piece and receiving feedback.  It was wonderful to see the boys who are in the early stages of their piano journey take the stage.   Bravo!
