Boys report on their amazing Iceland trip

Thomas and Luca report on their trip to Iceland:-

The Iceland trip started for most of the 24 boys on Sunday morning, getting on the coach and saying bye to our parents and relatives. The trip through Heathrow airport was speedy and we were on the plane to Iceland in no time. After going through Keflavik Airport, we immediately hopped on a bus to go to a site on the Mid-Atlantic ridge (where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet). We spent the rest of the day exploring hot springs (which made us smell like boiled eggs for the rest of the afternoon) and the south coast. The rest of our days in Iceland were spent going to multiple waterfalls, a glacier, a lava tunnel and multiple other excursions. By night, we spent our time in two lovely hotels that provided us with a good night's sleep and great food.

Our favourite part of the trip was the black sand beach, at Reynisfjara, where the sand was made of ground up basalt. The bay had a majestic appearance as the caves that towered above us seemed almost man-made because of the hexagonal columns. Throughout the journey, we were lucky to have had an amazing tour guide whose name in Icelandic meant Thor’s Hammer. He provided us with excellent information on Icelandic culture and the sites that we went to. The spectacular trip came to a conclusion when we were dropped off at school on Thursday evening. The Iceland trip this year has been so much more than what we expected and we personally recommend this trip to any younger Prep boys who hope to come. The memories that we made in Iceland will always be cherished and we are grateful to those who provided us with this amazing experience.
