The Middle School Concert has become the traditional finale to the series of musical events that mark the end of the academic year. Midst the end of term heatwave, the boys from Years 5 and 6 gathered in preparation of what was to be a glorious festival of music making.
The Junior Orchestra has rarely sounded better, with a programme ranging from a Haydn symphony movement to ‘Mr Blue Sky’. The roots of our success in chamber music were plain to see through the Year 6 Quartet. The Jazz Band had toes tapping and were followed by the Double Bass Group. Not many schools could boast so many double bass players from just two year groups!
The Year 5 strings showed that the future of string playing in the Upper School is in safe hands and the Junior Concert Band brought the evening to a resounding close with three well-chosen and contrasting items.
Bravo to the boys in Middle School! You presented a concert of which much older children would be proud.
