Swimming News

Posted: 24th May 2017

Wow what a busy couple of weeks for the boys in the pool!

Fresh from the successes at the IAPS National Finals the boys in Years 5 and 6 took part in the English Schools Primary Team Qualifying round at Whitgift School. In a very competitive field both the Freestyle and Medley teams have once again qualified for the National finals to be held in Sheffield later in the term.

The boys in Years 5 and 6 have also been qualifying for the London Schools Individual Championships, and the good news is that all the boys who took part have qualified for the finals in June.

Back at school the Sports Department hosted the annual tribe swimming galas for both Years 3 and 4. Ms Tuckwell, for whom it was the first experience of swimming at the Prep, accurately described the event as HOT, LOUD and EXCITING! We saw some fantastic racing from all the boys with the usual Prep support.  Deerfeet came out on top for Year 3 and Ojibwas for Year 4.

Lastly the boys in the Upper School swam at the London League Independent Schools Grand Final at Laytmer School. With strong teams from Laytmer, Dulwich College, Lady Eleanor Holles, Whitgift and Highgate all in attendance, the boys swam out of their skins producing exceptional results winning 8 individual races and coming in the top three in 21 of the 27 races and finishing it off with a superb victory in the 16x25m squadron relay. The final results saw the Prep as Champions for the second year in a row winning with 289 points to Latymer in second with 268 and Dulwich College third in 254 points.
