This year has seen another successful running of this annual competition with internationally renowned concert pianist, Luis Parès, as our adjudicator.
The morning saw over 80 boys, in the early stage of learning participating in two non-competitive Festival elements of the day. There is so much promise for the future on display and, as well as general points made to the group, each boy received a personal written critique from Mr. Brooke.
Upwards of 90 boys from four sections of the School participated in the competitive sections of the Competition. The standard of playing was exceptionally high throughout, with boys performing a wide range of pieces from Class 1 (Grades 1-2) all the way through to Class 3 (Grade 5 or above). Following preliminary rounds, the finals took place on Monday 15th May and were adjudicated by Luis Parès, internationally renowned concert pianist and currently Head of Keyboard at Dulwich College.
Luis was splendid in giving the boys praise for their performance whilst also giving each player something to take away regarding their development as young pianists. His warmth, wisdom and expertise was obvious to all and, in the words of Mr Brooke, his adjudication was more akin to a master class.
Congratulations must be given to all the boys who took part, but a special mention goes to our 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finalists.
