Year 8 Arch to Arc

Posted: 5th July 2017

On Thursday 22nd June Y8 embarked on a team challenge of running, swimming and cycling from Marble Arch to the Arc de Triomphe without leaving Dulwich Prep!  Teams of fifteen Year 8 boys divided up the distances for each stage of the challenge and in a relay style completed the race.  Each team was aiming to cover 290kms on static bikes, swim 7.5km in the pool and walk or run 140kms around Gallery Road playing fields.

These distances proved to be no problem at all and rather than stop at their goal the boys ploughed on.  This desire to push themselves further than they needed to reflects the strong and determined characters they have become.  In total the teams covered over 2500kms or the equivalent distance of London to Dover four times, crossing the Channel twice and Calais to Paris and back twice combined.  A superb effort!

The boy raised £1150 on the day for MacMillan Cancer Support, The Teenage Cancer Trust and Non-Smoking Lung Cancer Research through The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.  Many thanks indeed to the Friends’ who have added a further £2,142 to the total, bringing it to a marvellous £3,292. Donations can still be made through the Virgin Money Giving website via the link below.

We owe a big thanks to Core Health and Fitness for loaning us the static bikes, to the many adults who supported the boys and to the boys themselves for embracing this event and giving their all.

Dulwich Prep & Senior Announcement

We are delighted to share that we will be extending our provision from ages 3-13 to ages 2-16. Our first Year 9 cohort will start in September 2025.

As a highly commended school at this year’s Independent School of the Year Awards, we are excited to share that we will become Dulwich Prep & Senior.

We will continue to be a school of choice, maintaining our exceptional Prep offering with the option of staying to GCSE. Our support of families in finding the right senior school or sixth form at the right time for their sons will remain at our core, whether that be at ages 11, 13 or 16.

Our key entry points will be Nursery, Reception, Year 3, Year 7 and Year 9. Occasional places may be available in other year groups.

If you would like your son to be one of our ‘Trailblazers’ and join Year 9 in 2025 or 2026, please get in touch with our Admissions Department for further details.
