We were very luck in Early Years to be able to celebrate Harvest twice, as both the Nursery and Reception classes have their own special Harvest assemblies.
Our youngest children, wearing their class coloured t-shirts, happily sat in front of an extremely proud audience of parents to sing about scarecrows and autumn leaves. Miss Davidson told the children a lovely story about Mrs Mud encouraging her family to help grow an apple tree with the moral relating to our Golden Rule, ‘Be Helpful’.
Later the Reception boys celebrated Harvest with their parents. They sang songs about carrots, bananas and beans and told the story of ‘The Enormous Turnip’. We were very lucky to have the Reverend Schunemann from St. Stephen’s Church who gave a talk about how God provides everything seeds need for growing and said a gentle prayer about gratitude. It was also lovely to have our special visitors from Balmoral Court who enjoyed the assembly and were presented with beautiful bouquets by our boys.
