We want to feel confident that all our pupils will be happy and successful within our school, and that they will be able to access the curriculum. To this end, all children are assessed so that we can look at their potential and attitude to learning.
Our normal minimum standard for admission is above the average standard level of attainment for each age group, based on the National Curriculum.
Although these are not formal entry points for us, we do welcome boys to join us in Year 1 or 2 if occasional places arise.

The purpose of the assessment is to make sure that the boys who join us will thrive in a selective school with high academic standards. Most of our assessments for boys entering the Pre-Prep are carried out in small groups. We will hear the boys read and they will be asked to do some maths and writing. We will also look at their socialising and listening skills as the boys play together.
We ask parents to provide a copy of their son's most recent school reports and we will also contact each boy's current school to ask for a reference.
Successful boys are invited into school for a morning towards the end of the summer term to meet their new classmates and teachers. Parents are invited to a welcome evening to meet members of staff and fellow parents.
