Last half term, the Year 1 classes each studied a different European country: 1C looked at Portugal, 1D – Greece, 1L – Netherlands and 1W – Italy. The boys enjoyed learning about the different cultures and traditions and how they relate to life in England. To conclude our topic, on European Day, each class sampled food from their chosen country and experienced dishes they had never tasted before. The boys ‘flew’ down the corridor with their specially made passports and learnt a little about each of the other three countries. European Day ended with a fantastic football tournament where the four countries played against each other. The boys thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we saw some excellent sportsmanship. Huge congratulations to Portugal who emerged victorious.
