Year 6 in York

Year 6 in York

York once again lived up to its wonderful reputation as the Year 6 Residential. Glorious sunshine greeted us on our arrival and stayed with us all week. The boys were full of excitement on the journey and throughout their stay. Middletons hotel once again provided an amazing stay for all involved and was a place of much needed rest after busy days of walking, including the 3.4km of medieval city walls, whilst learning much of the history of York and England. The Chocolate Story was a particular highlight once again as the boys strolled through the Victorian Streets and learnt the proper way to taste and make chocolate. The Castle Museum and Clifford’s Tower provided more hidden facts and breath-taking views as the boys completed a treasure hunt around the Victorian replica of Kirkgate Street. York Minster was as breath-taking as ever and the boys were in awe of its sheer size and history and “Wackers” fish and chips is still a favourite with the boys and staff. As always, our Ghost Walk with Mr Ray Alexander had the boys hanging on every word; there is something rather special about walking the streets of York at dusk hearing his stories. The boys also have many great stories to share of their amazing week.
