Sport is an important part of life at The Prep.

Whilst “Sport-for-all” forms an integral part of our curriculum and gives the boys an enjoyable introduction to a wide range of sports, our co-curricular programme allows us to develop “Sport-for-excellence”. We are proud of our reputation.

Our rugby, football and cricket teams enjoy annual international tours and our athletes compete successfully at the highest level. Our swimmers regularly finish in the top three at National level, our rugby sevens team has made the final of the National competition twice in the last three years, our U9 rugby team were runners up nationally last year and our footballers have qualified for the finals of the National six-a-side competition twice in recent years.

We aim to strike a balance between “Sport-for-all” and “Sport-for-excellence” and run more than 60 sports teams across a variety of sports throughout the year. Over 400 fixtures are organised, for teams ranging from school 1st teams to year group “G” teams, and all have access to the same expert coaching and excellent facilities.

Sport-for-all begins in the Early Years with every pupil taking part in Sports Day.  It develops to include swimming galas and athletics sports days, as well as rugby, football and cricket tournaments as the boys move through the sections of the school.

We encourage the boys to develop an interest in all aspects of sport, and parents are always welcome on the touchline.
