Rugby Sevens Season Kicks Off

Posted: 1st March 2016

Last Saturday 12 of the UK’s rugby playing schools descended upon our immaculate fields at Gallery Road to play in our Sevens Tournament.  The players were in two groups of six teams, with each team playing five matches before the group winners were decided.

Some superb sevens rugby talent was on display, giving rise to a comment by one of our independent referees, ‘The quality of rugby played here today is better than what you would expect from U13 rugby players.’ A huge accolade indeed to all the players on the day.

The two top teams went through to the Cup semi-finals and the third and fourth placed teams in each groups contended the semi-finals of the Plate section. The cup semi-finals were Dulwich Prep London A v St Olaves from York and Moulsford v Caldicott, while the plate semi-final matches were Bedford Prep v Colet Court and Aldro v Danes Hill.

The Plate final was contested between Aldro and Bedford Prep with Bedford coming out very worthy winners. The Cup final was a replay of last year’s National Schools Final with Dulwich Prep London playing Caldicott. It was a very close and fierce encounter that could have gone either way. Caldicott ended up, however, defending their title by winning 14-19. A great tournament played in a great spirit. A (almost) perfect way to start our sevens season.

Dulwich Prep & Senior Announcement

We are delighted to share that we will be extending our provision from ages 3-13 to ages 2-16. Our first Year 9 cohort will start in September 2025.

As a highly commended school at this year’s Independent School of the Year Awards, we are excited to share that we will become Dulwich Prep & Senior.

We will continue to be a school of choice, maintaining our exceptional Prep offering with the option of staying to GCSE. Our support of families in finding the right senior school or sixth form at the right time for their sons will remain at our core, whether that be at ages 11, 13 or 16.

Our key entry points will be Nursery, Reception, Year 3, Year 7 and Year 9. Occasional places may be available in other year groups.

If you would like your son to be one of our ‘Trailblazers’ and join Year 9 in 2025 or 2026, please get in touch with our Admissions Department for further details.
