Once again we have done fantastically well in this competition, with 36 pictures chosen for the Cancer Research UK, Young Art Exhibition, from 7,500 entries. The prizes are fiercely contested, but we have had 6 Commended pieces and 2 Highly Commended. Huge congratulations to Jacob ( 8C) who has won 2nd prize in the Year 7-9 category. Jacob’s winning piece is entitled Jacob3, a dry point print and part of a triptych created in response to the Refugee Crisis.
Jacob says of his work, “I felt it was important to produce an artistic response to the shocking and terrifying images and reports of the refugees’ plight across the Middle East and Europe. Hopefully this series of prints will help to raise awareness and provoke thought.” His work will be professionally framed and he will meet the judge, Patrick Cullen, at the Prize Giving on Tuesday 27th April. The organisers have congratulated us on this tremendous achievement, the third time the Prep has been highly placed in this competition.Categories: Uncategorised
