The 8C Drama Project last week saw the Drama Studio turned into a menagerie of literature as the boys tackled an anthology of drama, poetry and comedy based on the theme of Animals.
Working with Mr Sperring, our Director of Drama, the boys got their claws into drama such as George Orwell’s Animal Farm and Eugene Ionesco’s The Rhinocerous, poetry from TS Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven and Roald Dahl’s The Enormous Crocodile, comedy sketches from Fry and Laurie and Monty Python, and even a beautifully staged version of Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
The boys’ wonderful physicality for poems such as The Naming Of Cats, combined with an excellent awareness of comic timing in challenging pieces such as Monty Python and The Holy Grail demonstrated their focus and precision in performance, and they unleashed a committed performance on parents and boys.
