On Friday afternoon Year 8 Design and Technology Creative Rotation went to the Designer Maker User permanent exhibition at the newly refurbished, spectacular Design Museum beautifully designed by the minimalist architect John Pawson.
We looked at the Crowd Sourced wall where members of the public voted on objects they thought worthy of being in the Museum that were worth £5.00, we sat on Frank Gehry’s cardboard chairs, tried out early computer games and designed our own logos, traffic warden uniforms, chairs and recycling systems.
We loved spinning in Thomas Heatherwick’s extruded chair which was a cross between a ride and a seat! It was really interesting seeing Zaha Hadid’s pure white 3D printed models, having studied them at school. The designs, products and processes were an inspiration we will take back to the classroom over the next weeks.
As an extra bonus, we walked through beautiful Holland Park, past peacocks and contemporary sculpture on our way back to the minibus.
