Another Eco Win

Posted: 11th October 2017

Our Dulwich Prep Eco Warriors have been busy of late.

Recently, our Pre-Prep and Lower School Eco Warriors took part in a Roots & Shoots competition to design a new character that would fit the world of Dr Seuss’ The Lorax. The Old Vic will be staging a production of The Lorax later this and into next month and to celebrate this, they asked all London schools associated with Roots & Shoots to take part.

To our delight, our school won the competition – Kasper Steyn, 3L, submitted the winning puppet in the guise of ‘Lumi’, a Poseidon-like character who is the guardian of rivers and everything that lives in them (‘Lumi’ being the Albanian word for ‘river’). Roots & Shoots were impressed by the standard of entries they received from all our boys, ranging from a little character who lived in a rain drop to those who ate litter-clouds and plastic. They were all taken aback by how the message of upcycling shone through, with some designs being submitted in pre-used envelopes and shoe boxes rather than newly-bought ones.

Elsewhere, our Middle and Upper School eco boys are currently working on a grand plan for a school vegetable garden which they’ll design, build and maintain themselves on our Gallery Road site. This long-term project is intended to give the boys an opportunity for a hands-on approach with nature and wildlife and eventually allow then to care for and harvest the fruits of their hard work. More details will follow as the project unfolds.

Dulwich Prep & Senior Announcement

We are delighted to share that we will be extending our provision from ages 3-13 to ages 2-16. Our first Year 9 cohort will start in September 2025.

As a highly commended school at this year’s Independent School of the Year Awards, we are excited to share that we will become Dulwich Prep & Senior.

We will continue to be a school of choice, maintaining our exceptional Prep offering with the option of staying to GCSE. Our support of families in finding the right senior school or sixth form at the right time for their sons will remain at our core, whether that be at ages 11, 13 or 16.

Our key entry points will be Nursery, Reception, Year 3, Year 7 and Year 9. Occasional places may be available in other year groups.

If you would like your son to be one of our ‘Trailblazers’ and join Year 9 in 2025 or 2026, please get in touch with our Admissions Department for further details.
