Early Years celebrate Diwali

Posted: 7th November 2017

Bright colours, joyous music, wonderful clothes and a magical story – all highlights from the Diwali celebration in that took place in Early Years just before half term.

This Festival of Light is held in honour of Lakshmi, the Hindu god of wealth and prosperity. We learnt that Hindus pray to Lakshmi to bring them good luck in the coming year and that everyone cleans and decorates their homes, wears beautiful new outfits and shares presents with each other. The children watched the story of Rama as he searched for Sita with the help of Hanuman the monkey.

All the children and staff carried on the celebrations in the classrooms with lots of exciting craft activities. Thank you to all the parents who helped to make this such a wonderful event.
