Two teams of boys – one from Year 6 and one from Year 7 – joined 38 other teams from South East London schools in the sixth annual CWIZZ, held last Thursday afternoon at Emanuel School. Organised by children’s authors from CWISL (Children’s Writers and Illustrators South London), this literary quiz is designed to bring together young Londoners in a celebration of books and reading. Between rounds there were chances to win raffle prizes, meet authors, hear “one minute reads” from their books and compete for individual spot prizes.
As the quiz was so early in the term the boys were called into action with no preparation. Despite that, and the fact that the questions were extremely challenging this year, our teams did very well. Following a top score from Colfe’s of 53 points, and a 3-way tie for 2nd, 3rd and 4th on 50 points, our teams achieved 42 and 40 points. Many congratulations to our star readers – Jed (7L), Hugo (7W), Ayan (7L), George (7D), Xander (6L), Archie (6L), Rory (6L) and Daniel (6H).
