Leavers’ Day always seems to fall on a blue skied, bright sunshiny day; one brimming with bitter sweet celebration for our Year 8 boys and all that they have achieved with us, whilst the simmering emotion of a final farewell is fully felt.
Sunday began with a formal service; Sarah Born, the longest serving member of staff to be leaving us this year, spoke to the boys, remembering stories of when they began in nursery; what progress they have made!
We then spilled out onto the grass and were entertained by enthusiastic performances from the boys, who that week, had completed street dance and drumming projects. Sculptures imagined and crafted by the boys who had worked in the Art department all week were tucked into site specific spots, and musicians rotated on to and off of the stage, all adding to the celebratory feel. It was a very special garden party!
Glasses of fizz and a delicious banquet style lunch were enjoyed by all before the boys – already ‘Old Boys’ of the school – bade us farewell. We will always want to hear their news and remain interested in their journey and so we sincerely hope that they will keep in touch. It’s not too soon to sign up for a post as a GAP student!
Good luck gentlemen!
