Year 1 visit Rochester Castle

Posted: 14th November 2018

As part of their topic, Year 1 boys became knights for the day as they explored Rochester Castle. Climbing the steep steps to the very top of the tower, the boys were able to imagine what life may have been like in the 12th century. When they reached the top, they were treated to exquisite views of the Kent countryside and the River Medway, through the crenulations and arrow slits.

In the beautiful cathedral, the boys had the chance to design their own coat of arms after a wonderful workshop on heraldry. A visit to the Guildhall Museum, to learn more about the siege of Rochester Castle, and an opportunity to shoot mini catapults and dress up as Norman knights, completed a super trip.
