With this week being national Walk to School Week, our boys have been keen to play their part in promoting a healthier lifestyle for all, including looking at how we can all help tackle the high levels of air pollution.
Our Eco Club boys from Years 1-8 were invited to take part in a school competition to design a banner which encouraged alternatives to driving to school and asking us all to be aware of the effects of engine idling. We had a great response, with many thoughtful drawings and well considered slogans. It was difficult narrowing the entries down and we would like to thank all the boys who took part.
In the end, 6 winners were chosen and their work can be seen in 3 locations – outside school on the railings of the main Alleyn Park site, outside Brightlands and the main entrance to the Early Years site, and on the railings of the Mary Datchelor playing fields.
Congratulations to Benedict, Sebastian, Jenson, Shaoquan and James in Year 2 and Arthur in Year 3! Please have a look and read their messages as, in the boys’ words, “we could all just work together and make a difference”.
