A big week of football at the Prep!

Posted: 2nd October 2019

football-2

The week started with the Under 13 team playing in the 7 aside IAPS Rokeby tournament performing some of the best football of the term so far.  The team started the tournament really well winning 3 of their group matches and drawing the other two.  They finished joint top on points, but second on goal difference.  They continued in the competition in the Cup and played St Martins.  The team lost 4-2, but was given a second chance to play in the 5th and 6th play-off.  This ended in a draw, going to extra-time, golden goal and then ending on pens.  The boy’s lost 4-3 on pens.  They gave the tournament their all and should be very proud of their performances! Joe finishing with 6 goals, Ali and Elliot setting up all the goals and Gabriel received the player of the tournament for the biggest improvement with his football.  Thanks go to all staff, parents and players for making the event so enjoyable.

Dulwich Prep London 1st Team: Abie M., Ali M., Elliott H., Nelson O., Kieran K., Oscar M., Feargal T., Gabriel G., Joe C. and Hugo R.

A proud day for DPL – The Year 5 footballers were brilliant at the Dulwich College tournament.

The Under 10A and B team played at the Dulwich College tournament and played superb football.  The A team were scintillating in the group phase of the tournament. The boys attacked with purpose and scored some wonderful goals. The 8 minute fixtures meant if you got the early goal then it really gave you the ascendency for such a short sharp fixture.

Both teams got through to the second stage of the tournament.  It was important for both teams to win this group to determine whether they would go into the final.  The Under 10A team played in the Cup competition with the top four teams in the tournament.  In all their games they dominated play, performing with exceptional skills and silky football, but could not get the ball in the net.  They ended up losing 2-1 which was the deciding game on whether they would make the final, with Casper rifiling a free kick in the top corner of the net.

The Under 10 B team started the tournament very steady drawing the first 2 games 0-0, with Alex making some world class saves.  The team shape was changed for the final game putting Bobby as the striker and he scored 2 great team goals sending us through to the second stage.  The team was up and running!!  In the second stage of the tournament they finished top of the group winning 2 matches and drawing 1.  They reached the final playing Whetherby Prep.  The final was epic.  The under 10B team scored first, then they equalised, we then went 2-1 up and then they equlaised again.  The atmosphere was tense, looking like it was going to penalties when up steps Dylan with the final left foot shot, dropping to Bobby who went for a bicycle kick not making contact, but putting off the goal keeper and ended up going into the net.  The team ended up winning 3-2 and what a final it was.  Thanks go to all the staff, players and parents who helped support on the day.

We wish the Under 11 Team the best of luck in the ISFA 7aside tournament qualifier at Alleyns on Thursday.
