We have long been an eco-conscious school that strives to pursue a meaningful path towards improving the environment.
Last year, we wanted to show our commitment to sustainable education further by entering the Eco-Schools programme.
The programme consists of a seven-step framework focusing on 10 Eco-Schools topics and an assessment for the bronze, silver and internationally recognised Green Flag award. Most importantly, the programme is child-led, with all ideas and initiatives coming from our pupils.
We are extremely proud to announce that we have now gained the Bonze Award, with the Silver Award in our sights!
To achieve the award, our eco-school committees have formed an environmental review, devised an action plan, created a school eco code and implemented many positive changes to our school community. Despite a turbulent year, when in school, our eco boys regularly participate in litter picks, planting, energy-saving initiatives and discussions on how we can improve our school environment. Their new pen recycling bins located in each section have got the term off to a great start!
Our ultimate aim is to achieve the internationally recognised Eco-Schools Green Flag award, once we have completed the Silver Award.
What’s coming up?
We are looking forward to our whole school event, Eco-Week that will be taking place the week before half term.
With whole-school growing competitions and the debut of our very own recycled Dulwich Prep face mask, there is plenty for the DPL community to look forward to!
