Pupils Shine in ‘Red Camp’ Process Drama

Posted: 18th May 2021

As a part of their Documentary Drama unit Year 7 students rose to the challenge of engaging with a process drama, creating impressive scenes that explored themes of conflict, loyalty and love in the face of adversity.

The ‘Red Camp’ process drama is an experiential mode of learning in which the teacher and students investigate a document through a series of role play and improvisation activities.

The boys showed commitment to their roles and directed the dramatic action effectively as an ensemble resulting in each student involved gaining a more personal understanding of the issue of oppression in a creative format.

One of the pupils reflected, ‘we learnt how to work together more efficiently. Performing in and out of character for an entire lesson was exciting and got me more involved.’
