On Sunday 3rd February Dulwich Prep hosted one of the preliminary rounds of The Pro Corda National Music Festival for Schools.  The Festival is held in February and March each year and tours schools around the country through qualifying and regional semi-final rounds, culminating in a finals day at a prodigious performance venue.  The strength of chamber music at the Prep was clear to all, with 7 groups registered to play in this year’s event.  They included boys from Years 6, 7 and 8.   Each group played splendidly and delighted the parents and supporters who came to listen.  After each group’s performance, the boys were given a 10 minute adjudication and masterclass.  These were led by Pro Corda adjudicator Laura Feeney whose wise and helpful comments will only have enhanced each group’s performance and also given guidance as to the boys’ development as chamber musicians.  Laura has been invited back to the Prep to give a Chamber Music Masterclass which will be open to parents, staff and supporters.  Well done to all the boys in our chamber groups.  The School was, once again, strongly represented in this year’s competition.  Many thanks to Mrs Hewitt-Jones who oversees our involvement in Pro Corda events.
