In Nursery, the children had a wonderfully exciting day, where they heard some engaging stories and classical tales being read aloud, such as Chicken Licken and The Big Bad Wolf. The children had a fantastic time playing together in their new roles. They also shared their own books, and acted out some well-known characters, in a brilliant game of book charades.
In Reception, the boys dressed up as their favourite story book characters and brought the accompanying book to share with their class. Delicious cake pops, creative spider hand puppets, and a bustling carousel of nursery rhyme activities, were some of the fun events of the day. Very happy faces filled the classrooms, and the enthusiasm for reading was tremendous!
Pre-prep, will be celebrating books and reading during their highly anticipated book week, planned for after the Easter holidays! Lots of exciting reading activities and events will be taking place with Years 1 and 2.
In Lower School, the boys celebrated the day by taking part in some online writing masterclasses, created by award winning-authors, such as Katherine Rundell and Onjali Q.Rauf. The Realm was buzzing with excitement, and the boys engaged with the vibrant selection of new books on offer. Each form had their own Book Swap, and during this activity, recommended a plethora of wonderful authors and books, to each other.
In Middle and Upper School, there was a World Book Day Quiz in the library and lots of fantastic prizes were won! Boys were encouraged to enter the 500 word competition; a short-story competition for children aged 5-13. Book discussion during library lessons, was especially exhilarating, and the boys took every opportunity they could, to read throughout the school day.
