Last Saturday our senior cricket teams played a block fixture against our neighbours Dulwich College.  It was a first run out for most of our teams and there were some super performances and close matches.  The standout performance of the day was the 1st XI.  With six Year 7 boys being selected into the side, there were some nervous young men waiting to see what the older opposition were going to deliver.  The side, ably led by Marcus W and Johnny C (both 8D), need not have feared as the boys performed superbly.  Our bowlers performed wonderfully across the board and didn’t panic when runs were being scored fairly freely.  The boys in the outfield took some very good catches and their ground fielding was super.  Stand out bowlers were two Year 7 boys.  Hugo R (7C) ran it as a first change bowler and bowled a marvellous spell of seam bowling; it was at times unplayable.  He finished with figures of 1 for 12 from 4 overs.   Ned S (7W) was then tossed the ball and with his off-spin managed to restrict and attack at the same time.  A great streak saw him finish with 3 for 11 from 3 overs.  DC set us a target of 137 in 25 overs.  Our batting response started calmly with Krish and Ariyan seeing off the openers.  Krish batted well and finished with 27.  The standout with the bat on the day was Marcus W;  well supported by Johnny C who fed him the strike, Marcus put on a controlled, and at times brutal, batting display.  He finished the morning on 72  not out (including 11 fours, 3 sixes) of 31  balls.  His innings guided us to a 7 wicket victory as we reached the required target with 7.5 overs to spare.
