Early Years Remembrance Assembly

Posted: 12th November 2019

EYs-4

On Friday 8th November, the whole of Early Years gathered in our hall for our own Remembrance Assembly. It was a quiet, gentle and reflective occasion, where we encouraged the boys and girls to think about all the people who keep them safe, and we briefly mention some of the brave men and women who have lost their lives during war. It was a solemn event for our very young children and they sat and listened really well. Mrs Burtonshaw told them the story of the poppy field in Flanders and then we sat quietly for one minute listening to the Last Post. Two children from each class laid a wreath against our model of the Cenotaph.  The assembly finished with a beautiful poem about peace and the special helpers from the Nursery and Reception classes let poppy petals fall gently to the ground as a symbol of goodwill.
