Design Museum Visit

Posted: 22nd March 2018

On Friday Year 8 DT rotation spent their last session at the New Design Museum in the spectacularly converted old Commonwealth building.

They saw beautiful examples of Zaha Hadid’s 3d printed forms, how the tennis ball is manufactured and how the mobile phone has evolved over the last 20 years.

The comments from the boys were very positive, they really enjoyed sitting on a selection of chairs designed by famous architects and designers including Frank Gehry’s cardboard chair and Thomas Heatherwick’s fun spinner.

They said it gave them an opportunity to think about everyday objects in a detailed and analytical way and gave them respect for the products they take for granted.
