Aquatics success stories

swim-1

It has been another very busy week in the pool.

On Wednesday 14th, 16 water polo players travelled to Whitgift to play in a triangular against Whitgift and Eltham.  It was a fantastic afternoon of friendly matches with both the U13s and U12s competing against very strong opponents.  The U13s worked very well as a team and the cohesive spirit was evident throughout.  The U12s were playing against U13s and thoroughly relished the challenge of pushing themselves against older boys.

On Thursday 15th, 34 Year 3-6 boys walked to Dulwich College for the first round of their London league gala.  It was an incredibly strong squad performance with some very fast times and personal bests recorded.  More importantly, it was the first gala for the Year 3 boys and it was wonderful watching the older members of the squad encouraging and supporting their younger teammates.

The week ended with the English Secondary Schools Final.  A definite highlight in the swimming calendar, the annual competition which is held at the London Aquatics Centre gave Peter, Otto, Ethan and Matthew the chance to represent Dulwich Prep against the very top senior schools in the country.  The four boys pushed themselves and managed to shave two seconds off their qualification time, finishing the day 11th in the country for Individual Medley and 14th for Freestyle.  An outstanding achievement considering over 175 schools competed!
