Prep+ dine in the dark!

Posted: 8th November 2018

On the second Monday of half-term, we had the unique experience of visiting the Dans Le Noir restaurant in Farringdon, where we had the ‘dining in the dark’ experience. We were served by two wonderful waiters, Fabio and Ghow, who are both blind. It was an unforgettable practical experience of what life is like as a visually impaired person, from tasting and guessing what the tasty tapas were, through to moving around, communicating and doing what seem simple everyday tasks such as eating, communicating and pouring drinks. We then went back into the ‘light’ and in the seating area we had lessons in braille and in sign language followed by a superbly interesting and informative Q&A session with our hosts. Thank you to all at Dans Le Noir and it is highly recommended for an evening out for adults as well!

Being Prep+, and in such an interesting part of London, we followed this with a short historical walking tour of the area taking in Smithfield market, Bart’s Hospital, Charterhouse, William Wallace’s memorial and Sherlock Holmes – all within 10 minutes of the restaurant.

Other news:

Please note that the remaining trips are full and with waiting lists, namely ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’, Classical Spectacular, and John Rutter’s Christmas Special and the Christmas ice-skating.

Reminder:

If parents have suggestions of good places to visit or great plays, exhibitions, experiences or shows in London suitable for our boys (the Dans Le Noir experience was suggested by a parent), please do let me know:-
