Swimmers take Bronze in IAPS National Finals

Posted: 16th May 2017

On Saturday 6th May our swim squad made their way to the IAPS National Finals to compete against 150 boys’ schools from across England.  Going in as reigning champions the boys felt confident that they would be extremely competitive and would be right up there pushing for top honours once again.  Over the course of the morning all the boys competed exceptionally well, with most of our swimmers completing their races having achieved PBs.  Whilst this was unfortunately still not enough to see us into top spot, we are proud of the whole team’s achievement in finishing 3rd behind very strong teams from St Paul’s Junior and Millfield.

In the relays we only came outside the points in one relay with year 5 coming 8th and 9th, year 6 came 3rd and 4th, year 7 came 2nd and 3rd and year 8 came 3rd and 4th.

In the individual races our boys qualified into 8 finals with the following results being achieved:

Ethan: 6th, year 6 25m butterfly.

Elliott: 4th, year 8 25m butterfly.

Cosmo: 4th, year 8 50m backstroke.

Henry: 8th, year 6 50m breaststroke.

Maxwell: 7th, year 8 50m breaststroke.

Mason: 6th, year 6 50m freestyle.

James: 3rd, year 7 50m freestyle.

Sam: 5th, year 8 50m freestyle.

Well done to the boys in years 6, 7 and 8 who placed third in their respective age groups on points ensuring an overall 3rd place nationally.
