U11 Football Success Continues

Posted: 3rd October 2017

Congratulations to the U11A team for their performance in the Epsom College tournament.  The team won their first game against Knightsbridge School 1-0, after a fantastic curled goal by Hugo.  They then drew 0-0 with Thomas’s Clapham; the team created many chances but unfortunately could not find the net. They finally wrapped up the group stage with an impressive 5-1 win against Stanford Green School; goals were scored by Subomi, Hugo, Joe, Alexander and Abie.  This meant they finished top of the group with 7 points and going on to play in the cup competition.

In the semi-final they played Hurlingham School and won 2-1 with goals scored by Hugo and Joe.  They then went on to play St Martins in the final and lost 2-0.  The boys were fantastic from start to finish, playing some superb team football and producing some fabulous link-ups across the pitch.  They should be very pleased with their efforts.

The Player of the Tournament, voted for by the team, went to Subomi for his strong hold-up play and non-stop running in the attacking third. The Manager’s Player of the Tournament went to Alexander for his calm and composed play in defence.

I would like to thank all boys for their efforts and the parents who came to support the team. I am sure we are all looking forward to the Independent School Football Association (ISFA) regionals taking place at Alleyn’s School next Thursday 5th October and waiting in anticipation to see how they perform.

Good luck for the remainder of the season.
