Year 7 Trip to Norway

Posted: 7th November 2017

Vi elsker Norge!  During half term thirty intrepid Year 7 boys joined the first Dulwich Prep trip to Norway.  The boys traversed deep fjords, snow covered mountain tops, walked ancient paths and slept where Vikings once lived.

Kinsarvik on the Hardangertun Fjord served as our base for the first three nights of our stay.   We walked the ‘Monks Path’ along the Husadalen Trail following the Kinso River and its spectacular waterfalls.

The Bondhus Valley provided stunning views of the Folgefonna Glacier and a chance to ‘hunt’ for Norway’s famous trolls in the natural caves along the valley floor.

On day four we visited the Hardangervidda Plateau and were treated to the remarkable sight of the 182m tall Voringsfossen Waterfall and 30cm of snow!  Our final night was spent in the heart of Bergen in the UNESCO World Heritage area, Bryggen, shopping amongst the old wooden buildings and vibrant fish market.

It was a superb trip and my thanks go to the accompanying staff, Ms Bellos, Miss Baker, Miss Jones and Mr Olver, and to the boys whose company was delightful.
