Boys compete in the Whitcomb Cup

Posted: 6th December 2017

On Saturday morning our 11A, 11B, 12A, 12B, 1st and 2nd teams all travelled to St Paul’s Juniors to play the final fixtures of our annual block.  In the lead up to these matches our juniors had all played some very competitive games against them with our under 9 boys getting their first taste of competitive rugby.

This weekend we introduced the “Whitcomb Cup”.  This was donated by the departing head of rugby at St Paul’s and was named after a teacher (Robin Whitcomb) who coached sport for 32 years at Dulwich Prep and then 8 years at St Paul’s.

There were some exceptionally competitive fixtures over the course of the morning ensuring that the awarding of the Whitcomb Cup came down to the result of the 2nd XV game.  A win for us would mean a shared trophy.  A very tight game ended in a draw seeing St Paul’s take the trophy this year.  Congratulations to the 12A and 12B teams show also produced some outstanding rugby on the day.

Thank you to all the parents who came along to support and to the boys from both schools who played rugby in a superb spirit.
