Year 2 Roots & Shoots Club

Posted: 12th December 2016

Year 2 have been busy in the new Roots & Shoots club this term. This is a charity founded by Dr Jane Goodall, the world expert on chimpanzees, for children who would like to make our world a better place. We have been studying the Animals topic this term. The boys have been looking at our local wildlife, learning to name birds, making bird feeders, finding out about the habitat and habits of bees, including a fascinating talk by Mr Elliott, our school bee keeper, and designing and building a Bug Hotel. The boys and parents brought in a wonderful range of materials to help with this project, so a big thank you to everyone involved!  Our Bug Hotel was officially opened by Mr Roulston last week and we hope it will soon be inhabited!
