“If you go down to the woods today…”

The Reception boys explored our wood yesterday looking for bugs and beetles (but not bears) and had fun puddle jumping!

The children, kitted out in raincoats and wellies, trekked through the woods for an hour. They looked under logs and stones finding all sorts of little animals from worms and woodlice to spiders and slugs, as well as discovering different trees and plants. Working together they recorded their findings to take back to the classroom.

The fun continued with splashing about in an enormous puddle before ending their visit with a class story.

Mrs Burtonshaw the Head of the Early Years said  ‘We’re making increasing use of the wonderful woodland around our school. The natural world really inspires young children and encourages their discovery and creating skills’.
