Congratulations to the under 13 team for their performance in the Northcote Lodge School 6 aside tournament. The team won their first game to Thomas’s Battersea 1-0 playing some intricate football and scoring a fabulous team goal scored by Ben Gbadamosi. They then played Westminster School drawing 0-0 but playing some superb football and working in a unified fashion. They won their final game 1-0 beating Tower House and once again scoring a fast flowing goal scored by Ollie Sykes. It could have been more if not for the opposing goalkeeper making some jaw dropping saves. The team finished 1st in the group stage receiving seven points and then progressed to the cup competition.
In the semi-final they played Westminster Cathedral Choir School and won 1-0 with a lovely goal by Tino Mina. The boys had to adapt in the game as the opposition flooded the attack and therefore changed the formation from one at the back to two. This settled the team who then took control and came out on top. The boys went on to play Northcote Lodge School in the final. The game went back and forth with some highly entertaining football. They lost the final 2-0 and finished the tournament as runners up in the cup.
It was a great start to the season playing under challenging conditions and a special mention goes to Tino Mina and Ollie Sykes who were nominated as players of the tournament. Tino Mina for his exceptional positioning and link up play and Ollie Sykes for his high energy and the numerous ball carries, drawing the opponent out of position and creating many goal scoring opportunities. Henry Parker also deserves a mention with 4 clean sheets in the tournament.
